The US does not plan on cancelling Russian sanctions, said White House spokesman Sarah Sanders.
According to her, the Trump administration is committed to preserving the existing sanctions against Russia.
The condition for lifting the sanctions is for Moscow to fully implementation their obligations of the Minsk agreement in the Ukraine (despite the fact it is Kiev's forces shelling the Donbass.)
The White House is confident that the existing sanctions regime is the "best tool" to force Russia to fulfill its obligations.
Earlier it was reported that the US leader Donald Trump was planning to lift the sanctions in the first days after his inauguration.
However, the presidential administration encountered stiff resistance from the members of the Obama administration, who began to lobby for their interests in Congress.
