Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani has met with Alexander Lavrentiev, Putin’s special envoy for Syria, in Tehran on Saturday.
Shamkhani said that any agreement, brokered by negotiating sides and foreign actors in the Syrian crisis, must respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
He then accused the Israeli Lobby of targeting Syria in order to weaken its influence on the axis of resistance, stressing that activities of terrorist groups, operating in Syria, benefit Israel.
For his part, Lavrentiev said today's visit to Tehran comes within the scope of measures, aimed at easing the tensions in Syria, and right after the major ceasefire agreement has been brokered in cooperation with the United States and Jordan.
He affirmed that the Russian-Syrian-Iranian cooperation will continue until the terrorism problem is gone and peace is restored to Syria.
