US President Donald Trump has officially ended the secret CIA program to train and arm the so-called “moderate Syrian opposition”, saying it was was massive, dangerous and wasteful.
Cooperation with Russia has now become a key element in Trump's strategy towards Syria, the Washington Post reported yesterday, quoting officials who declined to give their names.
Already four days ago, The commander of US Special Operations Command, General Raymond Anthony Thomas, said the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) ended its program of supporting the so-called “moderate Syrian rebels”, which began four years ago.
Back In October 2015, US administration officials announced that Washington had abandoned a program of training and arming the so-called “moderate opposition” in Syria following the failure of the alleged program.
