The Syrian Army has made new gains in the eastern province of Deir Ez Zour.

Earlier on Wednesday, army units were involved in heavy clashes with ISIS and the affiliated terrorist groups in the western countryside of the province.

Eventually, they managed to establish control over new areas in the vicinity of the town of Al Tabani.

According to the field reports, army units, backed by the Syrian Air force, carried out series of operations against the gatherings of ISIS terrorists in the western countryside of Deir Ez Zour, thus making progress on the western axis of the city and establishing control over a number of villages and farms in the vicinity of the town of Al Tabani, where scores of the terrorists were reportedly killed.

The Army’s engineering units are currently combing the villages and farms and dismantling the IEDs and land mines left over by ISIS terrorists.

In a related context, local sources said ISIS by now transferred most of its terrorists and foreign mercenaries, along with their families, from the neighbourhoods of Deir Ez Zour city to the eastern countryside of the province, namely due to advancements recently made by the Syrian Army.
