The Syrian Army has just liberated a strategic town from ISIS on the eastern banks of the Euphrates river, according to Al-Masdar News.
The report explained that the 113th and 137th brigades of the 17th Division provided artillery cover for the Syrian Army's 5th Legion who overran ISIS positions and liberated Mazloum town near the Al'Omar Oil Fields.
The liberation of Mazloum will allow the Syrian Army to consolidate their positions on the eastern banks of the Euphrates river and puts pro-government forces in prime position to strike at Deir Ezzor's rich gas and oil fields.
This comes as Fort Russ News reported yesterday that Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have continued its drive against ISIS in Deir Ezzor countryside in a bid to capture the regions vast gas and oil fields before Syrian government forces.
