To avoid war crimes, Ukraine's Minister of Defense resigns - Like This Article

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stepan Poltorak, has filed a report on his resignation, as reported by ex-deputy of Ukraine, Vladimir Oleinik.

"According to our information, last week Poltorak presented Poroshenko with a statement of his resignation. Why? Because the military is being forced to prepare for war. General Nikitenko showed his holes too," Oleynik said, referring to when Major General of the Ukrainian forces, Peter Nikitenko, called nationalists  "marauders" in the Donbass.

According to Oleynik, the problem stems from a legal provision for the Ukrainian army.

"You can not use the armed forces to attack within your own country, the armed forces are only for protection. The military understand this: Poroshenko will flee, and they will be responsible for grave crimes against their own people. The war is not a solution, but an extension of Poroshenko's tenure in power," the politician said.
