In the southeast of Niger, a joint patrol of US military and military personnel from the African country came under fire.
The representative of the African Command of the US Armed Forces explained that the US military is in Niger to ensure the security of the armed forces of this country, including to support the fight against extremist organizations in the region.
According to the New York Times, three US servicemen were the victims of the attack, two more were injured. The Pentagon failed to confirm this information. Earlier, International French Radio reported that as a result of the attack several servicemen of the Niger and the United States were in fact killed.
