BEIRUT, Lebanon. The United States, Russia and Jordan have committed themselves to a new cease-fire agreement for southern Syria which bans the presence of IRGC and Hezbollah at the Syrian-Israeli border, Israel's Channel 10 reported.
The foreign affairs analyst of the channel said that in accordance with the new de-escalation zones agreement, buffer zones will be established on the border areas between Israel and Syria, around the occupied Golan Heights and the border area between Jordan and Syria.
The channel also quoted an American source, reportedly a high-ranking official, as saying that the agreement included the removal of all foreign troops from the border areas.
According to Jordanian government spokesman Mohammed Momani, the agreement is an important step in support of the ceasefire along the confrontation lines in southwestern Syria, a thing that would allow to create conditions for a sustainable political solution to the Syrian crisis.
Back in July, the three countries agreed to a ceasefire deal to reduce tensions in southern Syria and slowly restore stability to the affected areas.
For his part, the Israeli Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi said the ceasefire deal was signed also due to Israel's repeated demands that the Iranian/Iranian-backed forces (Hezbollah) shall not be present at Israel's borders.
