A Lebanese Army soldier who defected to the terrorist group Al Nusra Front in 2014 was captured on Friday.

“His name is Mohammad Mahmoud Antar, is 28 years old, and is accused of joining the terrorist organization Al Nusra Front,” the General Directorate of General Security said in a statement.

“He fought during the clashes in Tripoli, northern Lebanon, and was a member of Chadi Mawlaoui’s terrorist group active in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain Al Helweh,” the statement added.

The camp is notorious for being a home to several terrorist groups such as Jund Al Sham.

In 2016, the Lebanese authorities began constructing a concrete wall with watch towers around the camp in order to prevent terrorist activities inside the camp.
