Erbil, Iraq - Iraqi Kurdistan's Prime Minister Nechervan Idris Barzani said the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Goverment (KRG) are ready to begin talks with Baghdad.

He added that issues should not be resolved militarily.

The comments were made on Monday with Barzani speaking from Erbil, the KRG's capital.

Tensions between Erbil and Baghdad have been tense since the KRG conducted an unconstitutional independence referendum on the 25th of September.

The referendum prompted Baghdad to conduct an operation to liberate disputed territories that were held by the Kurdish Peshmerga militia but should be a part of federal administration, triggering a crisis among the KRG leadership.
