The head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko has announced his “appearance” in Kiev. Zakharchenko told Kiev officials demanding the return of Debaltsevo to wait for him personally.
According to the leader of the DPR, Ukrainian security forces will be disappointed waiting for the return of Debaltsevo.
“If they didn’t have enough forces and means in 2015 to keep Debaltsevo, then they'd be better off thinking about when Zakharchenko will be in Kiev. Debaltsevo is not theirs and never will be. Let them forget about Debaltsevo and the whole Donetsk People’s Republic,” he explained.
After Normandy Four negotiations held in Berlin on October 19th, Petro Poroshenko stated that Kiev should regain control of Debaltsevo. In the Ukrainian president’s opinion, this needs to be done because when the Minsk Agreements were signed in September 2014, the city was under Ukrainian security forces.
