The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has extended sanctions against Russia about conducting international sporting events in the country.

IOC will neither organize nor support any sporting events or meetings in Russia. The organization also called on the Olympic International Winter Sports Federations to freeze any preparations for competitions in the country, and is actively looking for alternative sites.

The Committee imposed sanctions on July 19 following the announcement by the independent committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) under the direction of Richard McLaren on on their investigation of possible violations of anti-doping rules by Russian athletes during the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

Dozens of Russian athletes, including Paralympic athletes, were accused of fraud. As a result, dozens of Russian athletes were barred from the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the entire Russian Paralympic team missed the Paralympics.

The second part of the McLaren-doping issues report on Russian sport will be presented on Friday, December 9th.
