The supreme command of the Syrian Arab Army is sending new reinforcements to Palmyra from Aleppo, Damascus, and other Syrian provinces. Reports have surfaced that Tiger Forces, Hezbollah units, and other groups have already arrived at the T-4 Tiyas base. It has been suggested that the Syrian army is going to send up to 2,500 troops to the eastern Homs province to subsequently launch a counter-offensive to regain control over the important oil fields in the region.
According to some reports, 12 government troops and militiamen of the National Defense Force have been killed in the battle for the military airfield over the past two days.
