Satire on White Helmet publicity, appearing in Allgemeine Morgenpost Rundschau, translated by Tom Winter -
There are only a few square meters of Aleppo not yet recaptured by Assad's minions, and now there's no trace of the heroic white helmets who regularly recover all those children injured the barrel bombs.
Are they all dead? Or perhaps they do not exist at all, as the Russian propaganda keeps telling us?
This, of course, is nonsense. Of course there are still white helmets and of course they are alive. Heroes never die!
How they have survived the inferno? A completely nonsensical question! Everyone who knows the reports about the white helmets knows where they are: they have driven off in a brand-new rescue vehicle with all brand new still unused equipment, with the departure filmed as in a dramatic live-action thriller.
And at the wheel sat the last last doctor of Aleppo and he drove to the last last hospital of Aleppo.
On the passenger seat sat a seven-year-old boy smeared with sweat and artificial blood photographed utterly artfully. By a photographer. The last photographer in Aleppo.
Previously, the boy was still tweeting in the best poetic English: We will all die. In the rain.
