Field reports are saying the Iraqi Forces managed to liberate an area in Jawasaq, a neighbourhood located west of Mosul, following an intense military campaign.
3 units of the Al Furqan brigade of ISIS surrendered themselves to Iraqi Forces.

In a statement, published on Monday by the Iraqi Army it was said that “the military units, while backed by the US Forces, seized control of a bridge over a Tigris River in the very south of Mosul”. According to the statement, the control over the bridge would allow to bring new supplies and reinforcements to the Iraqi Army located in the eastern side of Mosul. At the same time this would also allow to release more pressure on ISIS units that are stationed in the western side of Mosul city.

The chief of the Iraqi Federal Police Raed Shaker Jawdat said that the Iraqi Forces already managed to liberate the Tayyaran areas of Jawasaq neighbourhood and are advancing further with the final goal of reaching Mosul.

An Al Mayadeen field reporter in Jawasaq said the Iraqi military units are currently engaged in fierce clashes with ISIS and managed to secure the fourth bridge that links Easter and Western side of Mosul city.

Ahmed Al Asadi, commander-in-chief of the Iraqi military operation dubbed as “We’re coming for you, Nineveh!” said that today’s actions conclude the first of the six phases of the operation, both east and west of Tel Afar. He also confirmed that the Iraqi forces liberated some 1300 square kilometers of land and 12 villages, thus freeing some 1200 civilians from the grip of ISIS.

Meanwhile clashes in the South of Mosul continue. A booby-trapped vehicle inside which a large cylinder containing some 1000 liters of poisonous gas was discovered and later dismantled by the units of the Iraqi Federal Police. The vehicle was found close to the Mosul Airport.

A success was also achieved by the paramilitary group Al-Hashd Al-Sha'abi. On Saturday they managed to liberate a village from ISIS. Their engineers also dismantled 327 explosives, found in 45 homes.
