The Syrian Army has made further gains in Deir Ez Zour province.
After fierce battles with the ISIS terrorists yesterday that left scores of them dead or wounded, the army was able to capture the strategic Shoaib hill, overlooking the cemetery area, located in the southern outskirts of the Deir Ez Zour city. This comes as an important step as it will allow the army to make further advancements and eventually crush ISIS in the airport area and the eastern side of the city where currently close to 1300 families are living under the siege of ISIS, after the latter took control of the road that links their neighbourhoods with the rest of the city some 40 days ago.
According to reports, coming from the region, the Syrian ground and air forces carried out intensive raids on ISIS hideouts in the valley of Therdha last night. The raids also resulted in destruction of a tank and multiple hideouts belonging to ISIS.
The Syrian forces also carried out intense strikes on ISIS positions, located in the hills overlooking the eastern side of the city and the road that links the city’s airport with the residential areas. In additions to dozens of the terrorists being left dead or wounded, these actions also led to destruction of 2 vehicles belonging to the terrorists.
