The European Union stymies all attempts to block the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

The Wall Street Journal** writes that the EU authorities have long been under the pressure of several states, principally Poland, but now Brussels wants to help Moscow with the concerns of these countries.

Earlier, the European Commission sent an official letter to the heads of the energy departments of Sweden and Denmark, in which it clearly stated that it sees no grounds for filing a lawsuit against Nord Stream-2.

In fact, Brussels has brought the discussion on the implementation of this project to an end.
At the same time, the European Commission recognizes that opposition can lie only in a political context, there being no legal grounds for impeding the construction. In addition, the EU rules do not apply to the offshore part of the pipeline.

"Nord Stream-2" is a large-scale construction project for two gas pipelines from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The capacity of the gas pipeline will be 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The cost of the project, according to Gazprom, reaches 9.9 billion euros.
