The S-400 Missile Defense System complexes are being upgraded with missiles that are able to penetrate space, as stated on "Echo Moscow" by General-Lieutenant Victor Gumenniy.
"We are in the processes of upgrading to the kind of missile which will allow us to work in the atmosphere, reaching further distances and at higher speeds" - he says.
In November 2016, Russia's Aerospace Forces received the new 3PC S-400 "Triumph". This Missile Defense System is designed to apprehend aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles. It can also be utilised against ground objects.
