Syrian government is continuing negotiations with jihadist groups in order to complete evacuation of civilians from the besieged towns of Kefraya and Al Fouaa in Idleb province.
The civilians were supposed to be evacuated by now, however, the process was later disrupted by some obstacles, namely the potential security risks that might occur when transporting the civilians. 3000 civilians in the town of Kefraya are said to be still waiting for the evacuation.
Nevertheless, it was reported that the convoys will arrive in Kefraya and Fouaa within few hours. At the same time the convoys will also head towards the towns of Madaya and Zabadani, located in the countryside of Damascus and will take some 2350 people, 700 militants including, to their final destinations in Idleb and Jarablus.
The evacuation deal is an attempt to ease the situation for civilians living in the besieged areas and was brokered by Qatar, Iran and Russia on March 29th. The civilians from the besieged towns of Kefraya and Al Fouaa in Idleb would get evacuated, while, at the same time, jihadists and their families, living in Madaya and Zabadani would be able to head towards jihadist-controlled areas in Idleb and Jarablus, a town in Aleppo province. The evacuation process began on Wednesday, 12th of April, following a week-long delay due to safety concerns.
