26 February 1991: meeting to dissolve the Warsaw Pact. And when for NATO?
Twenty-six years ago, on February 25, 1991, a meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Warsaw Pact members in Budapest proclaimed the dissolution of this military organization. It was founded May 14, 1955 to respond to the threat posed by the USA and its military organization, NATO, which had existed since April 4, 1949.
Logically, the disappearance of this military pact should have resulted in the dissolution of NATO and allow the world to hope that it was finally done with these militaristic and bellicose superstructures. Fond hope! Unfortunately, the United States, arrogating itself unilaterally as the only winners of the Cold War, on the contrary, held fast rather more onto its hold on the rest of the planet that had escaped until then, especially in Central and Eastern Europe.
Following the tacit agreement between the Soviet Union and NATO,** East Germany dissolved following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and, de facto, became integrated into NATO. This agreement stipulated that NATO would not advance eastward, that no troops or nuclear weapons would be stored there. Today we know what the word of NATO is worth ...
On 12 March 1999 Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic joined NATO.
On 29 March 2004, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia are also caught up in this insatiable entity.
On 1 April 2009, Albania and Croatia also joined NATO.
To date, NATO has 28 member countries.
This military organization, under American command, [Its commander is always an American, though the "Secretary General" office rotates --tr] should therefore no longer exist today. Unfortunately, NATO serves as a screen for US militarist hegemonism and its hawkish policy around the world: NATO allows the US to multiply its interference operations under cover of this organization, as against Serbia in 1999 or in Libya in 2011, and tomorrow perhaps against the Russian-speakers of Donbass, and even against Russia.
As treason is the trademark of "our leaders," none of the presidents or heads of government denounce this forfeiture, or the continuity of NATO in its vindictive policy all dangerous for the world's peace and stability.
Even worse, in France Nicolas Sarkosy, known in the middle under the nickname of Sarko the American, and his alter ego, François Hollande in the right line of submission [One expects "Line of Succession! -- tr] to the American empire, made France reintegrate into the command of NATO! Thanks for the gift!
All we have to do now is to hope that one day this criminal organization will finally disappear into the garbage cans of history. In order for this day of liberation to come, it will inevitably require a major political change in Western Europe, with the coming to power of a new political class and especially of leaders who will respect their commitments to get our respective countries out of NATO, but also out of this technocratic entity that is the European Union and this swindling currency of named the euro!
The death certificate and the point of departure can't come soon enough!
