“The US missile strike on Syria “only facilitated the strengthening of terrorism,” Russia’s representative at the UN Security Council has said, adding that it shows how Washington is afraid of a real investigation” into an alleged chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, Syria that took place on Wednesday.
“The American strike was aimed at those fighting against terrorism in Syria”, said Vladimir Safronkov, Russian deputy acting envoy to the UN, during a UN meeting on Friday. He added that “Washington’s attack on a Syrian airfield in the early hours of Friday morning was an illegitimate act of aggression on a sovereign country and will only encourage the terrorists to commit more acts”.
“Previously, Washington had justified the presence of its troops in Syria with joint efforts in fighting international terrorism”, Safronkov said, adding that the recent attack “had proven otherwise”.
Not long after the US strike, the terrorist began to prepare for an assault in a direction of Palmyra.
