An American citizen working for the World Bank-funded Afghan Ministry of Agriculture was kidnapped today in Kabul. The Ministry’s spokeswoman, Lutfullah Rashid, confirmed the kidnapping.
The man was kidnapped this morning as he was leaving the house. No group has so far claimed responsibility.
However, according to other sources, the kidnapped wouldn’t be an American but a citizen of an unspecified African country, as Kabul police spokesman Basir Mujahid said.
An official of the World Bank press office in Afghanistan stated that the man working on a project in the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund is Kenyan.
