The Iraqi forces have liberated the church of Shimun es Safa on Friday, during the anti-ISIS raids in the Bab Al Bid neighbourhood of Mosul’s old city.
According to the statement by the Iraqi Federal Police chief, General Raed Shaker Jawdat, units of the Iraqi Federal Police managed to liberate the iconic Church of Shimun es Safa and are currently continuing with their progress as they aim to liberate the mosques of Omar Al Aswad and Al Rabeiyeh.
Earlier today, units of the Iraqi Federal Police made a significant achievement in the old city of Mosul as they not only managed to secure several important sites, but also liberated some 40 families that remained trapped inside the booby-trapped buildings in Bab Al Bid.
