The Moldovan parliament passed a declaration with a majority of votes demanding the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (DMR), Interfax reports.
The resolution was supported by deputies from the ruling coalition led by the Democratic Party, as well as representatives of liberals and liberal democrats.

Parliamentarians representing the opposition Socialist Party left the meeting in protest. Moldovan President Igor Dodon criticized this decision of the deputies. "I categorically condemn this newest provocation. These actions are aimed at worsening relations with Russia and undermining the successes that were achieved jointly with the Russian leadership," the head of state wrote on his Facebook page.
Currently, about 1,200 ranks and officers are part of the Operational Group of Russian Forces in Transnistria. They carry out tasks there along with the Moldovan and Transdniestrian peacekeeping forces and, in addition, carry out the protection of the armories.
Prior to the renaming and reduction in 1995, the unit was called the "14th Guards Combined Arms Army."
In November 2016, the defense ministers of Moldova and Ukraine concluded an agreement on the organization of a "green corridor" for the withdrawal of Russian troops, together with weapons, from the territory of the Transnistrian Republic. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin expressed surprise that this issue was the subject of negotiations between Kiev and Chisinau without the knowledge of Russia and the PMR: "It sounds like Honduras has promised to help Guatemala in the withdrawal of US troops from Korea," he said. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the Ukrainian-Moldovan agreement a provocative venture.
