American diplomats were denied access to their diplomatic dacha in Serebryanny Bor, and not allowed to pick up their things, the US embassy said. The dacha was to be at the disposal of diplomats until August 1.
Employees of the US Embassy yesterday, July 30 and today July 31, could not access their diplomatic dacha in Serebryany Bor. The embassy spokesperson told Reuters.
"In accordance with the notification of the Russian government, the US mission was to have access to our dacha until noon on August 1," she said. "Please contact the Russian government to explain why this is so," the embassy official concluded.
At the same time, the embassy did not specify who it was that did not let the diplomats enter the dacha in Serebryany Bor. The Reuters cameraman, who is outside the residence, saw how four cars and one truck, came to the scene. and were denied entry, the agency said. It is not specified who made the decision to refuse entry.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, according to Reuters, did not respond to the request to comment on the situation.
The dacha in Serebryany Bor was leased to the US embassy for use by its staff for recreation. On July 28, Moscow announced that as part of the response to anti-Russian sanctions, it would now be off-limits.
