Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Within the framework of the state visit, they are expected to sign about 40 documents in the field of trade, investment, energy, education and media. It is also planned that the companies of the two countries will conclude a series of agreements worth $ 10 billion.
Full-scale talks of the two presidents are scheduled for July 4th. However, the night before, Vladimir Putin hosted Xi Jinping in the Kremlin. After a welcoming ceremony and a joint photo, the Russian and Chinese leaders held an informal dinner.
During the negotiations, the heads of states will adopt a joint statement on further deepening relations, the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, as well as a statement on the current situation in the world and major international issues. The positions of Moscow and Beijing coincide on many issues, including the crises in Syria and Ukraine. In addition, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will adopt an action plan to implement the treaty on good-neighbour relations, friendship and cooperation (2017-2020).
Also on Tuesday, the two leaders will meet with members of the media forum of Russia and China. They will sign an agreement about a new educational channel in China, "Katyusha". In addition, Vladimir Putin will hand over to Xi an Order of St. Andrew - for his contribution to the strengthening of relations between the peoples of Russia and China.
A leading researcher at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies, Aleksandr Larin, made it clear that the political statements that the leaders will sign, will be the continuation of close cooperation between the two countries, which formed earlier.
- "Last year, when Vladimir Putin was in Beijing, they signed a statement of global strategic stability and a number of other important documents. Today's agreement will be a continuation of the cooperation and will contribute to the strengthening of international positions of Russia and China," - said Alexander Larin.
Speaking about the economic part of the agreement, he stressed that the agreement will be a valuable contribution to the development of the Russian economy.
- "Russia under Western sanctions needs to look for alternatives, and therefore the economic agreements will be an important milestone, and will contribute to the development of the country" - said the expert.
