German Chancellor Angela Merkel has warned Washington that her country is not guaranteed to support any aggression against North Korea and that a diplomatic solution to the crisis was a desired outcome.
She then went onto emphasize that Germany and other European Union member states are in favor of a peaceful solution.
She then went onto urge the international community to come to a diplomatic conclusion in the standoff between Washington and Pyongyang.
“We should do more ... We cannot simply insist on a diplomatic solution while we sit and do nothing,” she said at an event organized by the Handelsblatt business daily.
Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump threatened to attack North Korea with "fire and fury" in reaction to the communist state testing two intercontinental ballistic missiles last month that Pyongyang claimed could reach different targets in the United States.
During the 1950's Korean War, around 30% of the North Korean population was killed, majority from US carpet bombing.
"North Korea lost close to thirty percent of its population as a result of US led bombings in the 1950s. US military sources confirm that 20 percent of North Korea’s population was killed off over a three period of intensive bombings," explained General Curtis Lemay.
"During The Second World War the United Kingdom lost 0.94% of its population, France lost 1.35%, China lost 1.89% and the US lost 0.32%. During the Korean war, North Korea lost close to 30 % of its population," he continued.
North Korea references these shocking figures to justify its missiles program as a deterrent from any future attacks against it.
