The LGBT community in the Primorsky Boulevard in Odessa, Ukraine has held a gay pride march.
Participants of the march were brought to the site by special buses. Law and order authorities provided more than 500 police officers who cordoned off the boulevard. It is reported that about 140 people participated in the march.
This means that there were 3.5 police officers for each participant, while 140 individuals represent 0.014% of the population of the city of Odessa.
It is noted that activists failed to reach the Odessa City Hall, as they were blocked by activists of anti LGBT movements.
In June, the "March of equality" for the rights of LGBT people in the center of Kiev ended in riots.
Both points of view are worthy of consideration. Everyone should be free to live their lives without infringing on the freedoms of others - but at what point does celebrating one's sexuality become a question of taxpayer funded festivities?
