Lake Sladkoe, located five kilometers from the village of Pokrovka in the Kupinsky district of the Novosibirsk region, is now completely located on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This happened after the recent demarcation works (boundary designation).
Before the demarcation works, part of Lake Sladkoe was on the territory of the Russian Federation and the other part in Kazakhstan.
The administration of the district noted that in order to avoid violation of the border regime, explanatory work will be organized among the local population "on the inadmissibility of violating federal legislation regulating the border regime and the regime of the state border."
While the authorities insist the transfer has been entirely peaceful, many residents and online commentators are not happy with this decision.
