Russian military police forces conduct more than 1000 searches daily in the Syrian province of Darra alone.
According to Artur Kartoyev, a member of the Russian military police unit, operating in one of de-escalation zones in the southern Syrian province of Daraa, his unit conduct searches of at least 1000 vehicles and some 1500 people on a daily basis.
“Me and my colleagues have been at this checkpoint for two weeks now and everything is fine: the situation is normal, we are inspecting transfers of about 1,500 people a day and we are also inspecting cars and other vehicles to prevent the smuggling of arms and ammunition”, Kartoyev was quoted saying by the Russian media.
He noted that the number of cars crossing his checkpoint is increasing daily, unlike in the past when the population was afraid to cross this area due to the snipers and frequent shelling by the terrorist groups.
The Russian military said that the local population has quickly become accustomed to a new form peaceful life and seems to be understanding the importance of security measures and check-ups.
