Thousands of Venezuelan civilians flock for military training amid US threats - Like This Article

Over the weekend thousands of civilians in Venezuela mobilized to conduct military training exercises with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces to achieve a state of preparedness in face of US President Donald Trump's threat to use military force against the country.

The training was announced on August 14 by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in a matter of days after Trump announced a potential "military option" to be deployed against the Bolivarian Republic.

The purpose of these training exercises was so that the military and civilian participants can be provided with weapons training, mobilization preparedness and ground exercises.

“The American empire responds to Venezuelan democracy with greater aggression,” Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said.

“We must understand the broad concept of what sovereignty is, the capacity of a state, a nation and its government to make their own decisions. This country will follow the course that Venezuelans themselves decide upon,” he added.
