The Russian Ministry of Defense have announced that a Russian general has been killed in the eastern Syrian city of Deir Ezzor after ISIS terrorists shelled his position.
The general was revealed to be Lieutenant General Asapov and was involved in the lifting of the ISIS-imposed siege on the city.
He died after sustaining a "fatal injury" in the "sudden ISIS mortar shelling," the ministry explained.
For his services in fighting terrorism, the ministry revealed that he will be posthumously awarded by the state.
