On September 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading and in general the draft law "On Education", which, in particular, determines that the language of the educational process must exclusively be Ukrainian. Thus, it is proposed that in Ukraine, compulsory education in the Ukrainian language for pupils belonging to national minorities is introduced from grade 5.
This innovation caused a protest both in Ukraine itself, in particular, in Transcarpathia, and in a number of neighboring countries. Hungary appealed to the OSCE, the UN and the EU. The Parliament of Romania adopted a declaration of the rights of minorities in Ukraine.
