The Chinese government has granted $1 Million aid to the Syrian town of Minin, located in Damascus countryside.

“We are mostly interested in rebuilding infrastructure, including fixing the entire water supply network and providing medical services to the citizens”, China’s Ambassador to Syria Qi Qianjin said on Monday.

While visiting the town with Marianne Gasser, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Syria, Qianjin expressed his country’s confidence in Syria’s ability to restore the life back to normal, pointing out that Syria’s international friends and allies should make more efforts in rebuilding the country.

Qianjin visited the aid distribution centers of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the town’s bakery, the rebuilt parts of the water supply  network and the soup kitchen.

For her part, Gasser said the visit aims at checking out the services, available to the growing number of displaced people from several Syrian provinces in town, adding that the ICRC will continue to provide assistance as long as there are the people in need.
