Elite Syrian Army battalion kicks off new operation against ISIS in eastern Syria - Like This Article

Yesterday it was reported by Fort Russ News that the elite Tiger forces of the Syrian Army will continue operations against ISIS in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ezzor. 

The operation began today with the aim of taking the ISIS-held city of al-Mayadeen.

This is an important operation as al-Mayadeen is one of the most important settlements still held by the terrorist organisation and is where most ISIS fighters in the region have their families living.

The operation led by the Tiger forces is with support from Syrian and Russian air cover as well as from artillery fire. 

The Tiger forces are noted for their role in liberating Aleppo and Palmyra, and for lifting the sieges on Kuweires military base and the city of Deir Ezzor.
