Units of the Syrian Army have managed to liberate the strategically important Huweijet Saqr (Saqr Island) in the eastern province of Deir Ez Zour on Friday afternoon, following a 15 hour operation which was led by the elite Tiger Forces against ISIS terrorists, and which began last night.
The achievement was made also thanks to the Army’s yesterday advancement of liberating the Industrial District in Deir Ez Zour and its corresponding dock.
The Syrian Army has entered Saqr Island from its western flank.
Moments after the Tiger Forces crossed the Euphrates and entered Saqr Island, the remaining ISIS terrorists attempted to hold their positions near the central park.
They, however, failed and were forced to flee in the end.
