The Syrian Parliament has demanded an immediate withdrawal of the Turkish troops from the country, days after Ankara officially began with its illegal invasion of the northwestern Syrian province of Idleb.
“The Syrian Parliament demands an immediate withdrawal of the Turkish troops without any precondition, said Speaker of the Parliament Hamoudeh Al Sabbagh during Sunday's session.
“The Turkish invasion of Idleb threatens the Syrian state. The Turkish Army invaded Syrian territory by dispatching its troops to the province of Idleb and thus violated our sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Syrian parliament condemns the illegal Turkish invasion which has nothing to do with the agreements reached at Astana talks”, he added, while also noting that Turkish actions mark a serious violation of the international law.
A source from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Saturday that the illegal Turkish invasion of the province of Idleb is a blatant aggression against Syria's sovereignty and a strict violation of international law, adding that Damascus demands an immediate withdrawal of the Turkish troops from the entire Syrian territory without any preconditions.
On October 8th, sources from the province of Idleb said a group of Turkish officers crossed into the province while being escorted by members of Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham (ex-Al Nusra Front).
The sources pointed out that the group of officers entered Syrian territory under protection of Al Nusra Front terrorists in order to attend the meeting with Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham (ex-Al Nusra Front) leadership at the Bab Al Hawa border crossing.
It is noteworthy that Turkish reason for invading Idleb was to secure the province from Hay’at Tahrir Al Sham (ex-Al Nusra Front) terrorists who have since occupied most of the land in the province.
