DAMASCUS, Syria - The Syrian Parliament has approved a new law which removes exemption for mandatory conscription to 42 year old men and older.
The only way to avoid conscription is by paying $8,000.
This would prove difficult for the average working man as with the difficult economic situation because of the war, the average monthly wage is around $150 a month.
The law also allows for the confiscation of property if no military service or payment is received.
