BERLIN, Germany. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, the latest sequel to the 1992 first-person shooter computer game, notorious for its political propaganda content, has run into minor legal problems in Germany.

In order to comply with the German law which strictly prohibits displaying the symbols of Nazi Germany, developers were forced to change numerous things in game, such as depicting Adolf Hitler without his symbolic mustache, replace all swastikas with made-up symbols, etc...Even dialogue lines where Hitler is referred as “Mein Führer” were replaced with “Mein Kanzler.”

It is noteworthy that this is the first time any Wolfenstein game had to go through such strict censorship in Germany.

The game takes place in an alternate reality world in 1961, years after Nazis won the Second World War. The player’s task is to “liberate” the  United States from the Nazis.

Meanwhile, Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s leading railway company, announced the launch of “Anne Frank”, a new train named after the Holocaust diarist who, alongside her family, was reportedly crammed into a cattle wagon on a train bound for Auschwitz back in 1944.

Despite the outrage mainly coming from Jewish and pro-Israeli groups, Deutsche Bahn defended its decision, saying that it was an attempt to honor an “exceptional person.”

“It was not our intention at Deutsche Bahn to disrespect the memory of Anne Frank in any way whatsoever,” DB said in its statementm issued on Monday.
