Baghdad, Iraq - General Mahdi Al-Gharawi has been sentenced to death by a military tribunal this week for failing to prevent the ISIS takeover of Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, in the middle of 2014
This is the first time an army commander has been given the death penalty under Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-‘Abadi.
Al-Sura News released an Iraqi government document that fully details his crimes, including accusations of collusion with ISIS.
