SAO PAOLO, Brazil - US philosopher and gender theorist Judith Butler attracted scores of protesters to the Social Service of Commerce (SESC) Pompeia in Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city, when she gave a seminar on democracy on Tuesday.
Conservative protesters burnt an effigy of Butler before stamping on the charred remains.
Angry demonstrators waved Bibles and Crosses denouncing the work of Butler as “ideology.”
A small counter protest was present.
