Units of the Syrian Army, backed by allies, managed to assume full control over the so-called Palmyra triangle on Wednesday.
According to the SANA correspondent, the Army units gained control after annihilating the last remaining gatherings of ISIS terrorists in the western outskirts of Palmyra.
The victory comes as as a heavy moral blow for the ISIS terrorists.
Counter-terrorist activities also continued in the province of Deir Ez Zour. Earlier on Wednesday, the Syrian Air Force carried out intense airstrikes against ISIS gatherings, stockpiles and supply routes. Dozens of terrorists were reportedly killed or injured. The airstrikes were carried out in Liwa Al Tamin, Al Muhandeisen area in the vicinity of Al Tharda Mountain and Hill 23, located in the graveyard area.
