Russian President Vladimir Putin said there is no evidence that Syrian government ever used any form of chemical weapons, adding that such claims are nothing but provocation.

In an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro which was published on Tuesday, Putin stated there is no evidence that Syrian government ever used chemical weapons, noting that Syria has no reason to use such weapons and that such claims are pure provocations.

He also said Russia firmly rejects the use of chemical weapons by any country, political power or military force.

Putin’s statements come in the wake of accusations, mostly made by the Western and Arab governments as well as the mainstream media that Syrian Army occasionally uses chemical weapons against civilians.

The claims are, however, not backed by any sufficient evidence and many of them have been refuted since as being completely false, the most recent example being the so-called “chemical attack” on the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun that is said to have occurred on the 4th of April.

Yesterday, French President Emmanuel Macron said France might use military force against Syria should there be any more attacks with chemical weapons, coming from the government side.

It shall be noted that Macron’s government is openly financing jihadist groups, known to be in possession of prohibited chemicals.
