The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrei Parubiy, is assurred that the construction of the pipeline "Nord Stream-2" could precipitate the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army. This was stated during a press conference in Kiev.
Parubiy called the pipeline a "modern Russian energy weapon", dangerous for Ukraine, not only in political terms but also in terms of security.
"Russia would no longer feel restrained to a large-scale invasion of the Ukraine, where the presence of an important gas transportation system will no longer be on our territory, by which Russia supplies gas to the Western European market." - said the speaker of Parliament.
In addition, Parubiy said that the launch of the gas pipeline will provide Moscow with "huge funds" that can be spent on military operations in Syria and Ukraine.
