The President of Brazil, Michel Temer, has arrived in Russia on an official visit.

On the two-day stay in Moscow, Temer will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In particular, with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the South American country, Aloisio Nunes, the parties will discuss the preservation of peace, the fight against international terrorism, the main sources of tension in the international space, and he situation concerning North Korea and Syria.

Nunez said that relations between the two countries are traditionally suited to different positions, such as disarmament issues. "But here we are ready and willing to discuss the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes," - said the head of foreign policy department of the country.

In addition, the meeting will accommodate the signing of a number of bilateral documents, the most important of which is the joint declaration of strategic dialogue in the field of foreign policy. 

This is the first visit of Michel Temer to Russia as President of Brazil. As vice president, he has repeatedly visited the Russian Federation.

Brazil is Russia's largest trade partner in Latin America, which accounts for about 40% of Russia's trade with the region.

In 2016, Russia's trade with Brazil totalled over $4 billion dollars, including Russian exports worth 1,785 billion dollars and imports - 2.523 billion dollars. Brazil ranks in 23rd place in trade with Russia.
