President of Ukraine Poroshenko, proposing new options for settling the situation in the Donbass, wants either to avoid implementing the Minsk agreements or to "correct" them in his own way.
Sergei Tsekov, senator from the Crimea, expressed this sentiment Monday to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Poroshenko announced an agreement with French President Emmanuel Macron to prepare a draft version of options for settling the conflict in the Donbass in the "Normandy format" (Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany), which may be called the "Macron formula."
"Poroshenko is trying to get away from the implementation of the Minsk agreements and therefore is wasting time. Or he will try in his own way to "correct" the agreements already reached," Tsekov said.
He stressed that all points of the Minsk agreements were discussed, clearly spelled out, and must be observed. "But Poroshenko was not going to fulfill them, neither before nor after signing the document," the senator said.
He believes that a real settlement of the situation in the Donbass is possible only with "new, negotiable, and adequate leadership of Ukraine," when Poroshenko and his entire team go into political oblivion.
At the same time, Tsekov expressed the wish that representatives of the current Kiev authorities should not just be dismissed from their posts, but also endure well-deserved punishment for all that they have done in Donbass against civilians.
