Russia stops An-148 co-production with Ukraine
Russia intends to stop production of the short-range An-148 aircraft, a source in the aviation industry said.
Earlier, the official representative of the Ukrainian design bureau, Antonov, told RIA Novosti that the company has completely replaced the components that had previously been supplied from Russia.*
"There was great interest in the An-148, which was made in Voronezh, Russia. The interest was shown both by civil airlines and by the Ministry of Defense. Unfortunately, policy turned out to outrank the planning and the previously established regime of the relationship," the source said.
According to this source, the Voronezh Aircraft Building Association is finishing up the assembly of two planes, after which the history of the An-148 will end.
The An-148 is capable of operating non-stop from two to five thousand kilometers. At present aircraft of this type are operated by the airlines "Russia" and "Angara", the special flight detachment "Russia," as well as the Ministries of Defense and of Emergency Situations.
