Ban of Russian books did not help: 136 Ukrainian publishers close down - Like This Article

August 1 , 2017 - Fort Russ News -

Last year in Ukraine, 136 publishers closed.

This was reported by the president of the Ukrainian Association of Publishers and Booksellers Alexander Afonin.

"Last year alone, 136 publishers ceased their work. There is a certain regrouping. There is a cohort, somewhere around 30 publishers, increasing their volumes, but at the same time, the number of publishers that have 5-10 books in their range annually decreases, "he said.

Afonin also noted that the Ukrainian Publishers Association estimates the Ukrainian market today at just 110 million euros.

As we see, the revival of the book publishing business in Ukraine was not helped even by squeezing out competitors from Russia. Culture, after all, and everything that it encompasses is not a primary human need, but a secondary development arising from the satisfaction of the primary.
