The Syrian Army has officially announced taking control over the villages of Hardan, Salem Al Hamad, Al Atashana, Maghalat Kabeer, Maghalat Sagheer and Al Daema, located in the southeastern countryside of Raqqah.

According to field sources, the military operations in the current stage are focused on encircling ISIS terrorists in the town of Ma’adan, located at the administrative border between the provinces of Raqqah and Deir Ez Zour, both being the major hubs for ISIS terrorists.

The same sources also said the Army's control of the town of Ma'adan will be one of the most important steps for the Army, as it will further allow to eventually gain complete control over the city of Deir Ez Zour, which is being besieged by ISIS terrorists for more than three years now.

The Army aims to take complete control of the villages, located on the highway that connects the provinces of Deir Ez Zour and Raqqah. The distance between "Ma'adan and Deir Ez Zour is about 70 km, with gatherings of ISIS terrorists being scattered along the way.

It is noteworthy that the progress of the Syrian Army in the countryside of Raqqah provinces coincides with the increasing bombardment of Raqqah by the US-led international anti-ISIS coalition.

Two days ago, the coalition jets carried out 44 raids in Raqqah alone, mostly targeting residential buildings in Al Imam Al Nouri Mosque and Al Thukneh neighborhoods in Al Badou quarter of Raqqah, killing at least 50 people and leaving many more injured.

Earlier in the week, the coalition jets also targeted the buildings of the main general hospital and a pediatric hospital in the city of Raqqah for two days straight, while using the internationally prohibited bombs containing white phosphorus, and killing more than 40 civilians. Both hospitals used to provide necessary medical aid for more than 100,000 civilians, currently living in the besieged city.

In addition, the US-backed and Kurdish-led so-called “Syrian Democratic Forces” shelled the neighborhoods in the center of the Raqqah city, amid the sporadic clashes with ISIS terrorists at the outskirts of Hisham ibn Abd Al Malik, Nazlat Al Shehada and Masqan Al Saqar.
