Syrian military sources confirmed that the Syrian Army managed to fully liberate the town of Al Sukhneh.

Until today, the town, located in the eastern countryside of Palmyra, was known as the main ISIS stronghold in the Syrian Desert, gaining its strategic importance after the expulsion of ISIS terrorists from Palmyra by the Syrian Army back in early March.

Already last night, units of the the Syrian Army and its allies stormed this key strategic town, after approaching it from its southern and southwestern axes.

A complete control was assumed after units of the the Syrian Army managed to break through the last ISIS defense lines in the northern districts of the town earlier on Sunday.

Engineering units of the Syrian Army have already begun sweeping the mines and dismantling improvised explosive devices in the area.

Thanks to this latest achievement, the Syrian forces are now 55 kilometers away from the western provincial border of Deir Ez Zour province and 110 kilometers away from the city of Deir Ez Zour itself.
